Re-Cycle is excited to share that the Giant Store Norwich will now act as a drop-off point for bike donations.
This new addition to our network of collection points strengthens our ongoing partnership with Cycle Revolution, which already includes their stores in Colchester and Ipswich.
Based near Colchester, Re-Cycle is committed to repurposing unwanted bicycles and delivering crucial transportation solutions to communities across Africa. The addition of the Giant Store Norwich as a drop-off location makes it easier for local residents to contribute, allowing us to divert even more bikes from UK landfills and extend our support to those in need.
Since our establishment in 1997, Re-Cycle has built strong collaborations with NGOs in Ghana, Zambia, South Africa, The Gambia, and Sierra Leone, with plans for further partnerships. These alliances ensure responsible distribution of bicycles and support local bike mechanics, turning each bike into a vital resource for communities. For many, a bicycle is more than just transportation; it’s a lifeline.
In 2023 alone, Re-Cycle shipped an impressive 11,250 bicycles to Africa, along with thousands of spare parts. To increase efficiency and reduce the environmental footprint of each shipment, Re-Cycle has optimised its packing methods to now fit over 500 bicycles into each shipping container.
The Giant Store Norwich’s involvement marks a significant expansion of our partnership with Cycle Revolution and reinforces our mission to collect more bicycles and create a lasting impact in Africa.
