The headteacher of a Norwich infant school has hailed their Ofsted report as a “watershed moment” for the school.
Nelson Infant School, in Northumberland Street, is celebrating after they received a ‘Good’ grade following the inspection in January.
The Ofsted report paid tribute to the kind, respectful and happy pupils while the school’s SEND provision, leadership and governance equally came in for praise.
Headteacher Anna Catlin said: “We are thrilled that Ofsted has recognised the commitment and dedication of the whole staff team towards the children and families at Nelson Infant School.
“Ofsted celebrated our commitment to inclusion, recognising our ambition and high expectations for all alongside valuing the unique contributions that pupils from all backgrounds bring to the school.
“This is a watershed moment for us and one which we are determined to build on.”
As part of the report, one parent told Ofsted inspectors: “Nelson Infants is a fantastic school, alive with diversity, and staffed by people who have a deep understanding of children’s needs.”
The school was last inspected in 2017 when it was graded as ‘Requires Improvement’, prior to joining the Evolution Academy Trust.
Dr Craig Avieson, CEO of the Trust, said: “We are sincerely proud of Nelson Infant School and the improvements made to become a ‘Good’ school since being part of our Trust.
“This is thanks to the hard work of our Trustees, local governors, school leaders, staff, children and families.
“A massive well done to all for achieving something that is great news for the local community.”
