Costessey will celebrate hedgehog awareness on May 5th with help from a passionate local resident.
The Hampdens Hedgehogs project is a conservation initiative led by 10-year-old Kitty from Costessey, Norwich. Recognising the vulnerability of hedgehogs, now listed as ‘vulnerable to extinction’ on the UK red list for mammals, Kitty has taken proactive steps to protect these creatures in her community. Her efforts include raising awareness about hedgehog conservation, encouraging the creation of ‘hedgehog highways’—small openings in fences that allow hedgehogs to roam freely—and fundraising for organisations like the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and Hallswood Animal Sanctuary.
There will be a stall set up on Lord Nelson Drive Park in Costessey, with a raffle where you will have a chance to win a over £500 worth of prizes donated by Notcutts, Kens Corn Stores, Kettle Foods, Roys of Bowthorpe, Langleys Toys and more.
Visit Lord Nelson Drive Park (NR5 0UE) on Saturday 3rd May between 10am and 2pm.
